Day 01: Arrive in Paro
Your adventure begins with a flight into Paro, one of the most stunning air routes in the world, giving you breathtaking views of the Himalayas. On clear days, magnificent views of the world's highest peaks transition into the lush green expanse of Paro Valley as you descend. Upon your arrival at Paro International Airport, our representative will warmly welcome you and escort you to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit Ta Dzong, an ancient watchtower that now houses the National Museum. Below the museum lies the Paro Rimpung Dzong, the center of civil and religious authority in this valley. A short walk takes you to the base of the dzong and across a traditional cantilevered bridge. Just a stone's throw away is one of the innumerable archery grounds (archery is the national sport of Bhutan). If fortune smiles upon us, we may catch a match in action.Overnight stay in Paro.
Day 02: Paro Hike to Taktsang (Tiger's Nest)
After breakfast, embark on a drive to the trailhead leading to Taktshang Monastery, Bhutan's most famous monastery. Taktshang, meaning “Tiger's Nest,” is named for the legendary Guru Rimpoche, who is said to have flown to this site on the back of a flying tiger in the late centuries of the first millennium. Perched nearly 3,000 feet above the Paro Valley floor, this day hike is not only rich in history and culture but also breathtakingly scenic! The trek to the cafeteria takes about two hours, offering a stunning view of the Tiger's Nest. If you're still feeling adventurous, you can take another hour to reach the temple itself. After your hike, return to your hotel and enjoy a leisurely evening in Paro.Overnight stay in Paro.
Day 03: Paro – Thimphu Sightseeing (1.5 Hours)
Drive to Thimphu, a journey of about one hour, and check in at your hotel. In the morning, visit the Memorial Stupa, built in memory of our beloved third king in 1974. Then, proceed to Buddha Point to marvel at the world's largest statue of Buddha Sakyamuni. A visit to the mini zoo allows you to see the national animal of Bhutan, the Takin. For those looking for a gentle hike, consider the Wangditse temple hike—a short and easy one-hour trek through pine forests, offering beautiful views of Thimphu Valley, including the Thimphu Dzong and the Parliament House. Visit the temple of Wangdise and enjoy the panoramic views before walking back to your vehicle.
After 5 PM, explore the majestic fortress of Thimphu, Tashichho Dzong, which houses the throne of the king. If you have the energy, stroll through the lively town, the largest and most vibrant in Bhutan.Overnight in Thimphu | Altitude: 2300m
Day 04: Thimphu Sightseeing with Short Hikes
In the morning, visit the bustling weekend market (Friday to Sunday) where locals from surrounding villages gather to sell their produce and purchase necessities, reminiscent of the old bata system. Next, visit the School of Arts and Crafts, established to preserve Bhutan's rich artistic heritage, where students learn 13 traditional arts. The Folk Heritage Museum offers insights into traditional Bhutanese life, while the National Library houses an extensive collection of sacred texts. Later, continue to Zilukha Nunnery to meet and interact with the nuns.
After lunch, enjoy an option for a picturesque hike. Take a short drive out of the capital and walk for about one hour to visit Tango Monastery. The hike to the temple of Tango/Cheri in the wilderness offers stunning views of the surrounding forest and valley. Ascending through a small trail, you will reach the temple founded in the 12th century, now a school for studying Buddhist philosophy, metaphysics, mathematics, and poetry. Afterward, return to the hotel for a restful evening. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 05: Thimphu – Punakha (2.5 Hours Approx)
After breakfast, drive to Punakha, the ancient capital of Bhutan, which is a three-hour journey from Thimphu across the breathtaking Dochu-La Pass (altitude: 11,400 feet). On clear days, the snow-capped eastern Himalayan ranges come into view. Prayer flags flutter in the wind, enhancing the spiritual essence of Bhutan. After crossing the pass, descend into the warm and fertile valley, meandering along the gently flowing aquamarine river that leads you to Punakha.Before reaching your hotel, enjoy a scenic hike through paddy fields and old villages to visit Chimi Lakhang, the temple of fertility. associated with the religious art of phallus. After lunch, explore the Punakha Dzong, the winter residence of the Je Khempo (chief abbot). Built by Shabdrung Nawang Namgyel in 1637, Punakha Dzong is renowned as the most beautiful of the dzongs in Bhutan, an architectural masterpiece adorned with intricate artwork.Overnight at the hotel in Punakha.
Day 06: Punakha – Gangtey Valley (3 Hours)
Today, embark on an early drive to Phobjikha Valley, a broad glacial valley (10,000 feet) nestled in the Black Mountains. Described as "the most beautiful valley in the most beautiful country of the Himalayas," Phobjikha is home to the rare and beautiful black-necked cranes, which migrate from Tibet every winter.
En route, stop for a short hike to the ancient village of Rinchengang, which offers stunning views of the ruins of Wangdi Dzong. This area has remarkably preserved its old houses and way of life. The valley serves as a paradise for nature lovers and hikers alike. In Gangtey, visit the intriguing Nyingmapa Monastery, the only one of its kind west of the Black Mountain range, recently renovated by the 9th Gangtey Tulku Rimpoche.

Day 07: Phobjikha – Trongsa (3.5 Hours)
After breakfast, continue your drive, crossing Pelela Pass at 3,300 meters, which forms part of the Black Mountain range, dividing the country into east and west. En route, take a short break for a hike to the remote village of Rukubji or Chendibji. The descent meanders through dwarf bamboos, pasturelands, evergreen forests, and small villages, showcasing a transition in vegetation from evergreen to broadleaf.
Stop at Chendebji Chorten, patterned after Kathmandu's Swayambhunath stupa, built in the 18th century by Lama Shida to cover the remains of an evil spirit subdued at this spot.Night halt at the hotel in Trongsa.
Day 08: Trongsa – Bumthang (3 Hours)
In the morning, visit Trongsa Dzong, built in 1648, the historic seat of power over central and eastern Bhutan. The first and second kings ruled the country from this ancient fortress, where all five kings were invested as Trongsa Penlop (Governor) prior to ascending the throne. Presently, it serves as the administrative seat of the district and houses a monastic school. Built on a narrow spur at split-levels, the dzong is a sight to behold. The watchtower above the dzong, which once housed various armors and weapons, has been converted into a fascinating museum.
Continue your journey onwards to Jakar, stopping in Chumi Valley, known for its weaving. Here, “Yatha” (wool weaving) is practiced, a craft for which Bumthang is renowned.Overnight at the hotel in Bumthang.
Day 09: Bumthang Valley Sightseeing
The Bumthang Valley, often regarded as one of the most beautiful valleys in the kingdom, is the religious heartland of Bhutan. Here, many saints and masters have left their imprints, creating sacred places of worship and pilgrimage. Tales of Padmasambhava dominate the history of these holy shrines.
In the morning, visit Jampa Lhakhang, built by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gompa in the 7th century, before heading to Kurji Lhakhang, where the body of Guru Rimpoche is said to be preserved in a cave. Next, visit Jakar Dzong, built in 1667, which serves as the administrative center of the valley and provides a panoramic view of the town. The afternoon can be spent exploring the local town, visiting shops, and meeting the warm-hearted locals. Overnight in Bumthang.
Day 10: Bumthang – Ura Valley (1 Hour)
In the morning, take a short drive to Ura Valley. Ura is known for its picturesque and traditional villages, where life moves at a leisurely pace. Take time to explore the valley, known for its lush green paddy fields and forests.
Visit Ura Monastery, which is the main temple in the valley and offers sweeping views of the landscape. This area is a great opportunity for hiking and immersing yourself in the beautiful countryside.Overnight in Bumthang.
Day 11: Bumthang – Mongar (6 Hours)
Prepare for a long drive to Mongar, but it's worth it for the scenery along the way. Drive through beautiful pine forests and switchbacks as you pass the Yotong La Pass (3,425 m). Stop at the beautiful village of Zhemgang for a quick lunch and then head on to Mongar.In the late afternoon, visit Mongar Dzong, a prime example of Bhutanese architecture with stunning views of the valley.Overnight in Mongar.
Day 12: Mongar – Trashigang (2.5 Hours)
Your day begins with a drive to Trashigang, a picturesque journey along the banks of the Drangme Chhu River. Trashigang is known for its stunning landscape and vibrant culture. Upon arrival, visit Trashigang Dzong, which sits majestically on a hill overlooking the valley. Explore the bustling local market, known for its unique handicrafts, textiles, and fresh produce.In the evening, take a stroll along the river and enjoy the serene atmosphere.Overnight in Trashigang.
Day 13: Trashigang – Khaling – Phuentsholing (7 Hours)
Today, make your way back to Phuentsholing. The drive offers spectacular views, and you will have the chance to visit Khaling, known for its handicraft production. Explore local weaving centers and purchase souvenirs to support local artisans.Continue your journey to Phuentsholing, arriving in the evening. Check in to your hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening.Overnight in Phuentsholing.
Day 14: Phuentsholing – Paro (5 Hours)
After breakfast, drive back to Paro. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy your last day in Bhutan. Spend the afternoon shopping for souvenirs and exploring the local market.
In the evening, gather for a farewell dinner, sharing stories and memories from your journey through this enchanting kingdom.

Day 15: Departure from Paro
