After lunch, visit the Memorial Chorten, a temple built in memory of the late 3rd King. This site is a gathering place for elderly people who spend their days chanting prayers and socializing. Next, explore Changangkha Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the valley, offering a beautiful view. Visit the enclosure where Takins, the national animal, are kept, and drive to see the largest and newly built statue of Buddha with magnificent views of the Thimphu valley. After 5 PM, visit the fortress of Thimphu, Tashichho Dzong, which houses the throne of the king. In the evening, stroll around Thimphu, the largest and most bustling town in Bhutan. Overnight: Thimphu | Altitude: 2300m

Day 02: Thimphu – Punakha (2 Hours)
Begin your day with a visit to the weekend market (Friday to Sunday) where locals from surrounding villages sell their produce and buy necessities, reminiscent of the old barter system. Visit the traditional Hand Made Paper Mill and the School of Arts and Crafts, where students learn 13 different arts prevalent in Bhutan. Explore the Folk Heritage Museum, showcasing traditional Bhutanese living, and the National Library, housing a rich collection of religious texts and contemporary Buddhist teachings. Visit the Dechenphodrang monastic school to meet young monks, followed by the Zilukha nunnery to interact with nuns. After lunch, drive to Punakha, crossing the Dochula pass (3200m) with breathtaking views of Bhutan's highest peaks if the weather permits. Walk around the 108 stupas before continuing to Punakha. Just before reaching the hotel, take a hike through paddy fields and old villages to visit Chimi Lakhang, the temple of fertility associated with phallic art. Overnight: Punakha | Altitude: 1350m

Day 03: Punakha Sightseeing
Start your morning with a visit to Punakha Dzong, home to the most elaborate temple in Bhutan, showcasing rich Bhutanese art and architecture. For those up for a half-day hike, embark on a trail starting above the Dzong, offering stunning views of the valley, turquoise rivers, and sandy riverbeds, popular for mountain biking. The hike ends through farm fields, crossing a newly constructed bridge where your car will be waiting. Alternatively, you can explore this area on foot from your hotel. After lunch, hike for an hour (uphill) to the temple of Khamsum Yuley Lakhang, overlooking paddy fields and winding river bends. Relax on the hotel balcony, soaking in the natural beauty. For those staying at Meri Puensum, Zandopelri, or Densa hotels, enjoy an early morning walk to the hilltop nunnery, interacting with nuns and enjoying views of Punakha and Wangdi valleys. After breakfast, drive to the remote Phobjikha valley, with a possible short hike to the ancient village of Rinchengang, overlooking the ruins of Wangdi Dzong. The drive to Phobjikha is picturesque, with each turn offering stunning views. This valley is a winter home for endangered Black Necked Cranes, making it a paradise for nature lovers and hikers. The trail starts in the valley and ends at Gangtey Goempa temple, a richly renovated temple housing many monks. Visit the Crane Center supported by the RSPN, and optionally visit a village or farmhouse for lunch or dinner. Overnight: Phobjikha

Day 6: Punakha to Paro
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before setting off on your journey back to Paro, approximately 150 kilometers away. Arriving by the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to embark on a brief sightseeing tour of Paro.
Begin your exploration with a visit to Drukgyel Dzong, a historic fortress that once served as a defense against invasions from Tibet. Though now in ruins, the dzong stands proudly amid the backdrop of the mountains, reminding visitors of Bhutan's rich history. A short hike leads you to the dzong, where you can take in the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
Next, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan, dating back to the 7th century. This sacred site is said to hold the left foot of a demoness that the legendary king Songtsen Gampo pinned in place to allow Buddhism to flourish in the region. The temple's serene atmosphere and intricate architecture make it a truly special place to explore.
Lastly, explore the Ta Dzong, which houses the National Museum of Bhutan. The museum showcases a fascinating collection of artifacts and exhibits that narrate the history and culture of this enchanting kingdom.
As your day comes to a close, return to your hotel in Paro for the evening, reflecting on the rich heritage you've experienced. Overnight stay in Paro

Day 7: Paro – Tiger's Nest Monastery
Awake to the crisp mountain air and enjoy breakfast at your hotel before embarking on one of Bhutan's most iconic adventures: a hike to Tiger's Nest Monastery, or Taktsang Lhakhang. Perched dramatically on a cliffside 900 meters above the Paro Valley, this sacred site is a testament to the resilience of Bhutanese culture. The hike may be challenging, but the breathtaking views and spiritual significance of the monastery make every step worthwhile. As you ascend, the monastery periodically reveals itself, rising majestically from the forested cliffs.
Alternatively, you may choose to visit Chele La Pass, the highest point on Bhutan's Dantak roads, standing at an elevation of 3,988 meters (approximately 13,000 feet). The pass offers stunning views of the surrounding valleys and mountain ranges, along with a chance to enjoy a peaceful moment in nature.
After your morning of exploration, return to your hotel to unwind and reflect on the wonders of your journey through Bhutan. Overnight stay in Paro

Day 8: Departure from Paro
On your final morning in Bhutan, enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Depending on your flight schedule, there may be a possibility for an early departure without breakfast. As you prepare for your journey home, take a moment to soak in the tranquil beauty of Bhutan one last time. Your chauffeur will transfer you to the airport for your onward flight, marking the end of a remarkable journey filled with unforgettable experiences and cherished memories.
