Day 01: Leh Arrival & Acclimatization
Arrive at Leh airport, where you will be warmly welcomed by our representative. You will be transferred to your hotel, where you can check in and spend the day resting to acclimatize to the high altitude of Leh. The thin air and high elevation can be challenging, so it's important to take it easy. Enjoy a welcome tea or coffee provided by the hotel as you relax and settle in. In the evening, if you feel up to it, take a leisurely stroll to explore the local market. This gentle walk will help your body adjust to the altitude while giving you a first glimpse of Leh's vibrant culture. Overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.
Day 02: Leh – Sham Valley Sightseeing
Start your day with a hearty breakfast before embarking on a sightseeing tour along the Leh – Srinagar Highway. Your first stop will be the Hall of Fame, a museum maintained by the Indian Army. This museum showcases the bravery and sacrifices of Indian soldiers during various wars, with exhibits including weapons, uniforms, and documents. Next, visit the Spituk Monastery, also known as the Kali Mata Temple. This ancient monastery, founded in the 11th century, offers a serene and spiritual atmosphere. Afterward, proceed to Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, built to commemorate the visit of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism, to this region. The gurudwara is a peaceful place, and you can learn about the fascinating legend of Guru Nanak's visit here. Continue to Magnetic Hill, where the natural phenomenon of the hill seemingly defying gravity will leave you intrigued. Finally, visit the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers at Sangam, a spectacular sight where the two rivers meet. End your day with a visit to the tranquil Shanti Stupa, which offers panoramic views of Leh. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Leh.
Day 03: Leh – Khardung La – Nubra Valley
After a delicious breakfast, prepare for an exciting journey to Nubra Valley. You will drive through the Khardung La Pass, which, at an altitude of 18,390 feet, is considered the highest motorable road in the world. The drive offers breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks and the rugged landscape of Ladakh. As you descend into Nubra Valley, you will notice a change in scenery, with lush greenery and vibrant flowers dotting the valley. Nubra Valley, also known as the Valley of Flowers, is one of the warmest regions in Ladakh. After checking into your hotel, take some time to relax before heading out for a camel safari in the sand dunes of Hundar. The double-humped Bactrian camels, native to this region, offer a unique and memorable experience. Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.
Day 04: Visit Turkey
Post breakfast, embark on a journey to the picturesque village of Turtuk, one of the northernmost villages in India, which was annexed from Pakistan after the 1971 war. Turtuk is part of the Shyok Valley and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The village is a fascinating blend of cultures, predominantly Muslim with influences from nearby regions. Explore the village and its surroundings, including the small gompas (Buddhist temples) located on the plateau above the Shyok River. Turtuk also has an old royal house, offering a glimpse into its history. Enjoy the serene beauty and the warm hospitality of the locals before returning to Hundar for the night. Day 05: Nubra to Pangong via Shyok
After breakfast, begin your journey towards the mesmerizing Pangong Lake. The route takes you back towards Leh until you reach Khalsar, where you will take the left route through the villages of Shyok and Durbuk. The drive is scenic, with steep yet beautiful roads that offer breathtaking views of the rugged terrain. Upon reaching Pangong Lake, you will be greeted by one of the largest and most stunning brackish lakes in the Himalayas. Located at an altitude of 14,000 feet, Pangong Lake is a shimmering expanse of blue that stretches across the border into China. More than half of the lake lies within Chinese territory. Spend the afternoon exploring the lake area, where you might catch a glimpse of some rare wildlife. Overnight stay at Pangong Lake.
Day 06: Pangong Lake to Leh
Rise early to witness the spectacular sunrise over Pangong Lake, as the changing colors of the water and the surrounding mountains create a breathtaking scene. After breakfast, drive back to Leh, with a short stop at Changla Pass, one of the highest motorable passes in the world, for a refreshing cup of hot tea. On your way back, visit Thikshey Monastery, a beautiful and architecturally impressive monastery located on a hilltop. The monastery houses numerous stupas, statues, and murals, and offers panoramic views of the Indus Valley. You will also visit the famous Rancho School, made popular by the Bollywood movie "3 Idiots." Arrive in Leh by the evening and check into your hotel. Overnight stay in Leh.
Day 07: Leh – Shey – Thiksay – Rancho School – Market – Leh
After breakfast, visit Shey Palace, the ancient capital of Ladakh. Shey Palace and Monastery are known for their giant copper-gilt statue of Shakyamuni Buddha. Continue to Thiksay Monastery, one of the most beautiful and largest monasteries in Ladakh, located on top of a hill. The monastery is an excellent example of Ladakhi architecture and houses several stupas, statues, Thangkas, wall paintings, and a large pillar depicting Buddha's teachings. After exploring the monastery, visit Rancho School, also known as Druk White Lotus School, which has gained fame for its innovative educational practices and sustainable architecture. Spend the rest of the day exploring the local market at your own pace, picking up souvenirs and soaking in the local culture. Overnight stay in Leh.
Day 08: Departure
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Leh Airport for your flight back home. Depart with unforgettable memories of your Ladakh adventure, filled with breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural experiences, and warm hospitality.
